How To Do Accents by Jan Haydn Rowles & Edda Sharpe:
A Seminar with co-author Edda Sharpe
Saturday, March 27 at 2:30 pm.

How To Do AccentsWorking with an accent can be a dream or a nightmare. The pressures to get it right – to sound authentic, honest and connected – grow as audiences become more demanding and the world gets smaller. People currently have only two options: to work with a specialist dialect coach, or to buy a specific dialect ‘study tape.’
Now, in the second Revised Edition of How to Do Accents, actors are offered a new approach. The book and workshop CD provide a desperately needed, simple, reassuring method for both learning and teaching accents: a method that teaches not just one accent, but the underlying structure inherent in all accents.
‘At last! A really practical (and fun) guide to accent training. I recommend it to all actors and voice teachers’ - Jeannette Nelson, Head of Voice, National Theatre, London.

Edda Sharpe is Head of Voice and Dialect at the Shaw Festival, Niagara-on-the-Lake, where she has worked on over 60 productions over the past ten years. She has also been the principal dialect teacher on the MA Voice Studies course at Central School of Speech and Drama in London, UK, for eight years. Her skills have been employed on numerous theatre productions, in the West End, throughout the UK and internationally.

Third Floor Salon, TheatreBooks, 11 St. Thomas St., Toronto. Space is limited, and registration is required. Send a message to register. Include phone contact number please.
